A better future: a consultation on a future strategy for adults with autistic spectrum conditions

A consultation on a future strategy to support adults with autistic spectrum conditions to live full and inclusive lives with access to the right care and support. The consultation considers five key themes for delivering change – health, social inclusion, choice and control, awareness raising and training, and access to training and employment.

This paper, issued on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health, seeks comments and views on the draft General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2010 (the ‘draft section 60 Order’) and the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Order of Council 2010. The draft orders will implement the recommendation made by the Tooke Inquiry report, that the statutory functions of the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) be assimilated into the General Medical Council (GMC).
A Department of Health consultation paper: draft guidance on provisions to deal with nuisance or disturbance behaviour on NHS premises in England

The Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 creates a criminal offence of causing a nuisance or disturbance on NHS premises, and a power for fully trained NHS to remove a person reasonably suspected of committing this offence.
This consultation seeks comment on a draft of the guidance which will be issued to support use of the power of removal by NHS bodies in England.

Consultation on ordinary residence guidance, Directions and cross-border arrangements

A consultation seeking views on the revision of the Department's guidance on the ordinary residence provisions in the National Assistance Act 1948 (current guidance is contained in LAC(93)7). It is also seeking views on draft Directions that set out local authority responsibilities when ordinary residence disputes arise and draft cross-border arrangements for dealing with ordinary residence disputes between English and Welsh authorities.
Environmental design principles for adult medium secure units

This draft document launches a consultation on revisions to previously published medium secure environmental guidance (Design Guide 1993). It is anticipated the document will annex the Best Practice Guidance and Specification for Adult Medium Secure Services, published by the Department of Health in 2007.
The regulation of private hearing aid dispensers by the Health Professions Council: a paper for consultation
Closing date: 7 July 2009
This draft order sets out a proposal to abolish the Hearing Aid Council and transfer its register of hearing aid dispensers to the Health Professions Council.
